Eight hours of quality sleep. Boy does that sound like a dream! (No pun intended) Seriously though our bodies need to rest so they can heal and regenerate. Our organs heal on a schedule . (See the clock below!)
Tips for this building block – · Be done with screen time one hour before bed. Screen time stimulates your brain. So you might struggle to ‘shut your brain off’ enough to fall asleep.
· Release stress before sleeping. Try lavender essential oil, a nice bath, or spend time with God.
· Caffeine is a no-no after noon. It keeps you awake and makes you have to pee in the night.
· Digestion shuts down at 7pm. So be done eating by that time. Otherwise you may get up in the middle of the night for a bowel movement and if you don’t then all that food just sits there till the morning.
Teresa’s bad habit – At around 7pm every night I realize that I haven’t drank enough water through out the day. So… I try to play catch up with my water drinking which makes me have to pee in the middle of the night! I struggled for awhile trying to figure out why I was having such interrupted sleep. After a discussion with a urologist we figured out that chugging a bunch of water that late at night would have to eventually come out! Silly me!!! I now avoid liquids late at night and my sleeping has gone back to normal. YAY!
